The Complete FUE Process

Step 1: Customized Hairline Design

Before any extraction, our surgeon designs a natural hairline based on your facial proportions, age, and hair loss pattern. We create an asymmetrical, irregular line - too perfect looks fake. You approve the design before we begin.

Step 2: Donor Area Preparation

The permanent zone (back and sides of head) is trimmed short. Local anesthesia applied - most patients report only mild pinching sensation for 10 seconds, then complete numbness for 6-8 hours.

Step 3: Follicle Extraction (3-5 hours)

Using motorized micro-punches (0.6-0.9mm diameter), we carefully extract individual follicular units. Each follicle contains 1-4 hairs. The surgeon selects the healthiest grafts with thickest hair shafts.

Step 4: Graft Sorting & Storage

Step 5: Recipient Site Creation (1-2 hours)

Surgeon creates thousands of tiny slits in recipient area matching your natural hair angle (45 degrees frontal, 30 degrees crown) and direction. Depth must be perfect - too shallow: grafts pop out, too deep: poor blood supply.

Step 6: Graft Implantation (2-4 hours)

Each follicle is delicately placed into a recipient site using jeweler forceps. The team works methodically to ensure proper direction and density. This is the most time-consuming step.

Recovery Timeline - Day by Day

Day 1-2

Critical Period: Keep head elevated when sleeping. No touching grafts. Light swelling and redness normal. Apply ice packs to forehead (not grafts). Pain minimal - over-the-counter medication sufficient.

Day 3-5

Swelling peaks day 3-4 then subsides. Return to work possible day 3-5. Scabbing begins - do not pick. Gentle washing allowed after day 3. Donor area itchy as healing begins.

Week 2

Scabs fall off naturally. Transplanted hairs enter shock loss phase - this is NORMAL. Hair sheds but follicle root remains alive under skin.

Month 1-3

Ugly duckling phase - most transplanted hairs have shed. Scalp looks similar to pre-procedure. Patience required! Follicles are resting and preparing for growth.

Month 4-6

Growth Begins: New hair emerges - thin and baby-like at first. 30-40% of final result visible. Hair becomes thicker and darker each month.

Month 8-12

Final Result: 80-90% density achieved by month 8-9. Continue improving until month 12-18. Hair can be cut, styled, colored normally.
